KBS through Impact Malaysia empowers 1,480 youth graduates to become changemakers through Jelajah Impact

• Visiting 8 higher learning institutions in 14 locations across Klang Valley
• Involving 1,480 youths aged between 18 to 34 years old
• In which out of all, 50 will be selected to enrol in Akademi Impact in December
• This initiative gives a brief overview of volunteerism, as part of way to inspire impact making amongst youths

Jelajah Impact: Changemaker Edition 2023

Jelajah Impact: Changemaker Edition is a half to one-day outreach program to channel volunteerism towards creating positive and meaningful social impacts. The program will uncover youths’ motivation to get into volunteering and exploring areas of social issues that they are passionate to address with the right knowledge and toolkit provided during the program. The program which is set to take place starting this coming September 20 will be focusing to funnel interested participants to join Akademi Impact. Visiting a total of eight higher learning institutions, KBS anticipates impacting a total of 1,480 engaged youth graduates. Here is the schedule:

Previously, Impact Malaysia had successfully conducted X editions of Jelajah Impact over X years’ course. This time around, it will be concentrated in Klang Valley as most social issues involving the urban poor were highlighted within the territory, and is escalating as we speak.

Jelajah Impact Changemaker Edition consists of important modules which include Pentas Nyala and Takeover. The description of the modules are as follows:

Module	Objective
Pentas Nyala (1 hour)	To get the participants to listen to the aspiration and journey of someone who has volunteered and been a part of the social change within an organisation.
Takeover (1 hour)	To get the participants to understand and plan their volunteering journey, from understanding their purpose to identifying the communities and their respective skills in the efforts they can do

Akademi Impact Changemaker Edition 

Akademi Impact, the follow-up initiative to Jelajah Impact, is set to bring together 50 enthusiastic young individuals for an intensive, immersive volunteering experience lasting over six weeks, spanning from November to December. In collaboration with ten NGOs and social enterprises, Akademi participants will spearhead specific projects, ultimately transforming into proactive changemakers. 

This year, the Akademi Impact Changemaker Edition has honed its focus on addressing pressing issues such as poverty, healthcare, indigenous rights, biodiversity, climate change, and education, among others. The program comprises two integral components: 

• In-Depth Exploration of a Socio-economic Issue and Interactive Sessions with Local NGOs: Participants will dedicate an hour to delve deeply into a chosen socio-economic challenge, followed by engaging discussions with local NGOs.
  
• Introduction to Impact Model Canvas (IMC) and Practical Project Ideation: In a 1.5-hour session, participants will receive a concise overview of the Impact Model Canvas (IMC) and put it into practice to generate innovative project ideas.
  

Moreover, all participants will receive transportation stipends to facilitate their involvement, while partner NGOs and social enterprises will secure partial funding to support the youth-led projects. This dynamic program promises to empower young leaders and drive tangible change in critical societal areas.
