Malaysia Esports League 2023 Kicks off with State-Level Competition
PUCHONG, September 8, 2023 – The Malaysia Esports League 2023 (MEL23) State Leagues competition has commenced. MEL23 is part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ (KBS) initiative towards building a sustainable and inclusive esports ecosystem through the Esports Integrated (ESI) initiative, in line with the KBS Strategic Development Plan for Esports. The MEL23 State League will continue until 1st of October 2023.
Currently underway, the MEL23 State Leagues showcases three immensely popular games – eFootball Mobile (completed), Mobile Legends: Bang Bang or MLBB (on-going), and PlayerUnknown’s Battleground Mobile or PUBGM. As for the MEL23 Open Series, which is going to be unveiled in the near future, will include several other popular game titles, which are yet to be disclosed.
MEL23’s State Leagues are held from 28th August to 1st of October while the MEL23 Nationals stage will start taking place from the 14th of October to 22th of October. As for the MEL23 Open Series, registration will be open from 1st of October to 26th of October. Moreover, this year there’s also a significant difference in the total prize pool as for last year MEL22 it was at RM 299,500.00 whereas this year for MEL23, the prize pool has increased to RM 317,400.00. Ultimately as for the participating players, State Leagues’ winners will be qualified to represent their states for the MEL23 Nationals stage.
