Malaysia rallies behind Team HAQ and TODAK ahead of the M4 World Championship
Kuala Lumpur, 26 December – Representatives of MPL Malaysia, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Esports Integrated (ESI) and fans gathered at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) earlier today to send off Team HAQ and TODAK, ahead of the upcoming M4 World Championship happening in Jakarta. Held every year, the prestigious championship features a prize pool of USD 800,000 and 16 international teams who will battle it out for the coveted title.
Team HAQ and TODAK earned their spot at M4 after finishing first and second in MPL Malaysia Season 10, respectively. They will now represent Malaysia against the best teams from around the world.
In attendance at the send-off alongside members of the media were:
- YB Adam Adli, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports
- Ahmed Faris Amir, Chief Executive Officer, ESI
- Fadzli Rahim, Vice President Operations & Growth, ESI
- Fikri Rizal Mahruddin, Marketing & Business Development Lead, MPL Malaysia
“I am delighted to see our local esports team representing our country on the international stage. Their talent, determination, and teamwork inspire us all, and I have no doubt they will make us proud. It is also notable and worth mentioning that the growth of the local esports ecosystem, especially teams, that thrived independently without prior government support is commendable. This shows the creativity and resourcefulness of these organisations, and they gain legions of fans because of that. I encourage all Malaysians to tune in to M4 and cheer on Team HAQ and TODAK as they compete against the best in the world.”
YB Adam Adli, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports.
“We are thrilled to be here in support of Team HAQ and TODAK and wish them all the best in person before they take off for Jakarta. Both teams have earned the opportunity to represent Malaysia on the world stage, which is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved. Best of luck to all the players and coaches, we trust that they’ll make us proud!”
Fadzli Rahim, Vice President Operations & Growth, ESI.
“We have watched both teams grow and develop across the last season of MPL Malaysia. Team HAQ and TODAK have had strong domestic performances and hopefully, they can replicate that dominance on the international stage and bring home the biggest prize in MLBB esports!”
Fikri Rizal Mahruddin, Marketing, and Business Development Lead, MPL Malaysia.
“We are touched by the support from everyone who gathered here today as well as those back home. It means a lot to know that we have our fellow Malaysians firmly behind us as we compete at such a high stakes tournament. We hope to do the country proud and bring home the championship!”
Aiman Haq, Owner of Team HAQ.
